MP visits Hermes depot to see the firm’s commitment to the south
Ian Liddell-Grainger, the MP for Bridgwater and West Somerset, has this morning visited the Hermes depot in Bridgwater to tour the site and hear about the firm’s continued growth and investment in the UK.
The Depot Operations Management team at Hermes took the MP on a tour of the depot, which is an integral part of the national operation which delivers 390 million parcels a year.
The tour was then followed by discussions around Hermes’ overall business performance, which has seen double digit growth over the past few years; as well as regional investment and employment.
More than 60 people work at the Bridgwater depot and process parcels from 18 sub-depots in the region. Outside of peak period, there are around 460 people working as couriers across the area; which stretches from South Hams to Bude and Barnstaple on the north coast across to Salisbury and Weston-Super-Mare in the east and northwest.
Lauren Fletcher, Hermes’ Area Manager for the South, said: “Today was a great opportunity to showcase how we are continuing to grow and invest in our operations in the south. We are proud to provide regional employment opportunities for people seeking to work in a flexible and rewarding environment within a growing national business, especially in the run up to our peak period.”
Ian Liddell-Grainger MP added: “Today I was pleased to be able to meet staff at the Bridgwater depot and get a good understanding of Hermes’ operation across the south. It was a great opportunity to see the investment that Hermes is making as it continues to grow, and I look forward to seeing how that continues in the future.”
