HERMES JOINS GOVERNMENT-LED INITIATIVE TO ENCOURAGE BUSINESSES TO EXPORT.
Hermes, the consumer delivery specialist, has teamed-up with the Department for International Trade (DIT) to inspire and encourage UK organisations to grow their businesses by exporting goods overseas. The company has followed in the footsteps of British Airways, HSBC, Microsoft and Deloitte by becoming a partner of the government-led Exporting is GREAT campaign.
As part of its commitment to the initiative, Hermes’ in-house experts have already been speaking at a wide variety of events organised by DIT. This included a presentation by International Business Manager Amy Goodberry at an Export Strategy Workshop held at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in West Bretton. Meanwhile, Luke Batten, also an International Business Manager, provided valuable insight and advice at a retail and ecommerce drop-in session in Barnsley.
In addition, Hermes has committed to continually develop its portfolio of international delivery solutions, which already covers 190 countries across the world. The easy to use service has been specifically designed to enable small and independent retailers to simply and quickly send goods to customers based abroad.
Whilst Hermes deliver parcels on behalf of 80% of the UK’s top retailers and etailers, including ASOS, John Lewis, Debenhams and Arcadia Group, through its Corporate Accounts, the company also processes over 10 million parcels a year for its ‘Hermes Business Account’ clients, those smaller retailers and etailers who send more than 150 parcels a week. This includes businesses working within a variety of sectors, such as clothing and fashion, sports equipment, camping accessories and homeware.
Moving forwards, Hermes and DIT will also develop joint research and insight, collaborate in joint marketing initiatives to showcase the Exporting is GREAT campaign, as well as working together to develop products and services that can support UK businesses to prosper internationally.
Luke Batten said: “We are extremely proud to be working with DIT on the Exporting is GREAT campaign. We are wholeheartedly committed to supporting the growth of our clients’ overseas business, regardless of their size, and this campaign is the perfect platform to help us do so. The events have already provided us with a great opportunity to encourage SMEs to export and we look forward to contributing to the future success of the campaign.”
Baroness Rona Fairhead, Minister for Trade and Exports, said: “The Department for International Trade is delighted to be partnering with Hermes to inspire and support UK businesses as they explore the opportunities offered by exporting.
“There is great demand for UK goods and services across the world, and we look forward to working with Hermes to develop products and services that can support UK businesses to prosper.”
