Swiss family business presents innovative solutions at the trade fair
General contractor and solution design specialist – these are two sides of the same coin. For Ferag, these competencies are the focus of its trade fair appearance in Stuttgart. In addition, the Swiss family-owned company is presenting a range of innovative solutions for intralogistics to the international trade public.
Ferag will focus on its expertise as a general contractor and solution design specialist at the International Trade Show for Intralogistics Solutions and Process Management, LogiMAT (April 25-27, 2023 in Stuttgart). The Swiss family-owned company, which has already been successful on the market for over 65 years, specializes in total intralogistics solutions and is one of the world market leaders for material flow solutions.
Conveying, buffering, sorting, consolidating and processing in one
On the solution side, Ferag will be presenting a combination of its “Skyfall” and intelligent connection to conveyor technology to the LogiMAT trade audience in Stuttgart at its booth (Hall 3 / Booth C03), which covers more than 100 square meters.
“Skyfall” from Ferag combines conveying, buffering, sorting, consolidation and processing operations in a single system. This is based on carriers and trolleys, combined with application-specific load carriers, using gravity. The system can be used in a space-saving manner in the third dimension, freeing up valuable floor space for additional use. Thanks to extensive functional accessories, the system can be used universally, is scalable and can be expanded with additional functions and capacities at any time. Combining Skyfall and conveyor technology in one, the result is another solution for automatic pouch filling that is as innovative as it is intelligent – with increased performance and the greatest possible flexibility at the same time.
“For example, in returns processing, the key is to make the returned goods resalable as quickly as possible”, says Andreas Koch, Head of Operational Business Think Tank. “The sooner the goods increase available inventory, the faster customer orders can be fulfilled. As bags are filled, merchandise can be directly assigned to an open sales order before stock is even accessed”.
In times of supply bottlenecks, this means that urgent goods receipts can be assigned to open customer orders just as quickly by dispensing with lengthy storage processes. The interplay of innovative, highly dynamic technology and a coordinated material flow control system enables flexible and rapid response to the challenges of the market.
The pouch sorter system can be adapted to the customer’s product range without time-consuming planning and requirements. This solution can be individually demonstrated to interested trade visitors in Stuttgart at the trade show booth.
Ferag as general contractor and partner at eye level
“In addition to our innovative solutions, which we will be showing at LogiMAT,” says Nikolas Baumann, Managing Director – Head of Region Central Eastern Europe/China at Ferag, “we primarily want to present ourselves to the international audience in Stuttgart as a general contractor and solution design specialist. The fact that this is already a lived practice is also emphasized by well-known customers of the company: “Ferag recognized and understood the scope and importance of the project for our company,” says Dennis Prandl, Head of Global Logistics Service Center at S. Oliver. Just one month after the project was signed, Ferag organized the kick-off with a finalized installation and workshop plan. In addition to the impressive technological solution, Ferag also convinced those responsible at S. Oliver by introducing its own flexible approaches and their possible implementation in the existing concept. The result: As general contractor, Ferag is responsible for the new distribution center in Germany with a throughput capacity of 21,000 pouches and GOH per hour. The planned Skyfall will have 125,000 pouches in the system.
