FAST-TRACK LOGISTICS SPACE RELEASED AT DARLINGTON SCHEME
Tritax Symmetry, the dedicated logistics development company for Tritax Big Box REIT plc, has released new accommodation options with fast-track delivery at Symmetry Park Darlington.
With outline planning consent secured and full site infrastructure in place, Tritax Symmetry can deliver unit sizes from 50,000 sq ft up to 577,500 sq ft within the year.
The announcement responds to the rapidly growing on-demand logistics market and unprecedented changes in digitalisation and consumer delivery expectations.
According to ONS data COVID-19 saw five years’ growth in e-commerce between March and May 2020 and currently, internet sales as a percentage account for over 30% of all retail sales in the UK.
Furthermore, a recently published report by the British Property Federation (BPF), ‘Delivering Goods in 2020’ concluded that logistics is one of the sectors driving change in the economy and is forecast to increase by 43% over the next 20 years reaching £114 billion by 2039.
Symmetry Park Darlington is a 90-acre site located on the A66 and just a few miles from the M1. The award-winning development is already home to the north’s first 1.5 million sq ft robotic sorting facility for Amazon and has capacity to accommodate complimentary uses such as a hotel, petrol filling station, drive thru, restaurants and offices.
Simon Dixon, Development Director at Tritax Symmetry said, “Having already pre-let a significant proportion of the site to Amazon for its state-of-the-art facility, the second phase is ready for immediate pre-let delivery with funding, power and full site infrastructure already in place. Symmetry Park is one of the few sites in the region that can quickly deliver high quality, large space accommodation.”
With the potential to create around 3,500 new jobs and contribute £180 million to the regional economy when fully completed, Symmetry Park Darlington is a significant new asset for regional and national investment.
The Leeds offices of Colliers International, Gent Visick and Carter Jonas are joint agents for the scheme.
