CooperVision sees benefit of integrated warehouse automation with Indigo WMS
International Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) specialist Indigo Software today announced that CooperVision, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of soft contact lenses, has selected Indigo WMS for its Kent bottled solutions production facilities.
CooperVision is investing in Indigo WMS to streamline and improve component issuing and traceability processes inside both its Ashford manufacturing complex and the distribution centre at Sevington. The production facility concentrates on manufacturing bottled solutions for contact lenses. CooperVision wants to improve on its already impressive stock accuracy and in order to do this it has selected Indigo Software’s consulting team along with the introduction of Indigo WMS. The company is also seeking to improve decision making and data timeliness within its supply chain operation, by having warehouse system updates happen in real-time.
Indigo WMS will be integrated with CooperVision’s ERP system, giving the company a fully mobile, real-time supply chain management platform with advanced warehouse management capabilities. Once implemented, Indigo WMS will automate pre- and post-production warehouse management, taking care of every warehouse process. This spans the initial receipt of raw materials, put away and picking for a works order based manufacturing process, to managing the distribution and shipping of finished goods.
“We are currently using a paper-based system to manage the warehouse through our ERP solution and it doesn’t have the mobile capabilities or lot traceability functionality that we need. Our warehouse employs a large workforce and bringing in Indigo WMS will significantly improve efficiency and productivity,” says Shane Cowley, Logistics and Site Manager at CooperVision.
“Introducing automation with Indigo WMS will deliver immediate benefits to CooperVision, they will improve the working environment and remove the need to employ additional workers for busy periods because the technology can absorb the impact of extra orders very smoothly,” says Colin Hough, Director of Client Sales EMEA & Americas at Indigo Software.
