Best of the Best: Jungheinrich Celebrates Triple International Award Win
Jungheinrich is celebrating three prestigious award wins. At the International Intralogistics and Forklift Truck of the Year (IFOY) Awards in Baden, Austria, the manufacturer’s innovative EJC 112i electric highlifter won the “Warehouse Truck highlifter” category. While at the Red Dot Design Award in Hamburg, the company won two awards including ‘Best of the Best’ for its EFG 4 electric counterbalanced truck series.
- At the Red Dot Design Award, the EFG 4 electric four-wheel forklift won ‘Best of the Best’ impressing the jury with its driving comfort and handling performance
- Also at the Red Dot Design Award, the arculee M autonomous mobile robot (AMR) was awarded for its “unique aesthetics and optimum interaction between human and machine”.
- At IFOY 2024, the EJC 112i was acknowledged as the most compact and powerful electric highlifter in its class
Jungheinrich, the intralogistics specialist, is celebrating three prestigious award wins for three different vehicles in its fleet.
EFG Series 4: Best of the Best
At the Red Dot Design Award in Hamburg, the EFG 4 electric counterbalanced truck series was recognised as ‘Best of the Best’. This is the highest honour bestowed by the renowned award’s international jury.
EFG Series 4 trucks have a load capacity of up to 3,500 kg and are designed for fast handling of heavy loads in internal goods transport and for use with attachments.
The jury was particularly impressed by the new cab design of the four-wheel forklift truck. The narrow B-pillar and the compact lift mast profiles, in combination with a panoramic roof, provide significantly improved all-round visibility compared to other forklift trucks. The experts also recognised the particularly ergonomic design of the driver’s compartment with its low entry, generous footwell and narrow steering column for plenty of knee and legroom. “The ergonomic quality of the truck is excellent,” praised the jury in its verdict.
arculee M: optimum interaction between man and machine
Jungheinrich’s arculee M AMR was the company’s second Red Dot Award-winner of the year. The underride transport solution can autonomously transport loads of up to 1,300 kg on all common load carriers at a speed of 1.6 m/s in the warehouse.
Thanks to its 360° safety sensor system, the arculee M is able to navigate freely within defined areas, and humans and AMR can co-operate safely in the tightest of spaces. The arculee M recognises obstacles independently, driving around them or coming to a standstill automatically if necessary, ensuring reactive flexibility and safety in every scenario.
The jury said: “The arculee M impresses with its unique aesthetics and, thanks to its sophisticated technology, ensures optimum interaction between man and machine.”
EJC 112i: warehouse truck highlifter
Meanwhile, at the IFOY Awards 2024 in Baden, Austria, Jungheinrich’s innovative EJC 112i electric highlifter won the Warehouse Truck Highlifter category.
The EJC 112i is the most compact and powerful electric highlifter in its class. For the first time in an entry-level pedestrian stacker, the highlifter uses state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery modules. As a result, the EJC 112i with a 100 Ah battery is 19 mm shorter than the most compact competitor truck currently on the market.
It means even inexperienced users can manoeuvre the vehicle easily, precisely and safely in narrow aisles and storage areas. With equal focus on centre of gravity and residual load capacity (650 kg over 4.70 metres), “The rule no longer applies that the smaller and lighter the battery and truck, the lower the stability and therefore the residual load capacity. With the EJC 112i, we have succeeded in achieving a combination of compactness and performance that is unrivalled in this segment,” explained Jungheinrich CSO Christian Erlach.
Speaking about the award wins, Paul Lynam, Manging Director at Jungheinrich UK said: “We are delighted with these wins because they demonstrate accomplishment across such a wide range of products and design fields such as the electric stackers, classic counterbalance and our new automation range and cover from safety and performance to ergonomics and technology.”
